(Covid-19 Update) 2021 Nursery Opening Plans

We hope everyone has had a restful holiday period despite Covid-19 tier restrictions and changes. Here are the details of the plans we have for re-opening in the new year.

Little Treasures Nursery will open as planned on Monday 4th January 2021 for all children under 5. Attendance for children receiving early years funding (EYF) is optional at this time. Holiday club, breakfast and after-school club for over 5’s will be unavailable until schools complete their phased returns in January.

Unfortunately due to the rise in cases in the borough of Croydon, we will not re-open our kitchen until Covid-19 tier restrictions are lifted completely.

We look forward to welcoming the children back next week.

Happy New Year!

From all the staff at Little Treasures.

Coronavirus (Covid-19) Update & Re-opening Information

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement, from Monday 1st June 2020 early years providers can re-open subject to the 5 key indicators being met; including a decreasing infection rate.

As this is conditional and not guaranteed, we have been asked to make plans for a gradual opening, starting with children who are 3 or 4 years old, initially and then all other age groups later.

To minimise risk of transmission, children will remain the same groups with the same key worker while they are at nursery. We will continue to adhere to the pre-arranged days as requested by parents. However, for the rest of the term parents will be asked to choose a morning or afternoon slot as we will not be providing full day-care until after the term ends.

Mornings sessions will take place from 9.00am to 12.00pm.
Afternoon sessions will take place from 1.00pm to 4.00pm.

This will amount to approximately half of the hours you previously had to allow all children to attend, taking into account new social distancing rules. Children will also be required to have a temperature check before they enter the setting (<37.3) and will be supported to wash their hands before entering their classrooms.

No food will be prepared on-site during this time, therefore every child will need to bring a packed snack and water bottle that can be refilled.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding during this period and we look forward to having the children back at nursery.

Our Latest Ofsted Inspection

On the 13th of September 2017, we were visited by Ofsted.

The inspector observed children in the main playrooms and the garden and spoke with the manager and all staff. The inspector looked at a samples of documents such as risk assessments and staff suitability checks and she also took into account the views of the parents by having conversations with some families.

The inspector found that Little Treasures is a Good setting. She reported that children settle in well, have good behaviour which is managed well and that we provide good quality activities for the children, which help them make good progress with their learning and development.

We are happy that we continue to provide a Good service for our children at Little Treasures.

A copy of the report can be found here – Little Treasures Nursery Ofsted Report 13th September 2017

On Wednesday 24th May 2017, the preschool room leader will be attending a Croydon Learning Community event.

With the event focusing on the importance of a smooth transition from nursery to school, she will have the opportunity to meet with some of the reception teachers of your children’s prospective schools.

There will also be discussions about how nurseries and schools can work together to improve the transition.

If you have not yet informed us of your child’s school for September 2017, please speak to your child’s key person. Also feel free to discuss any concerns or important information you would like us to include with your child’s transition folder.
